# About

> About Certified Med Spas — Certified med spas is an editorial research site about AOD-9604. Meet the point of view behind its inspection of claims, without a business behind the name.

Certified is a word I’d rather interrogate than wear.

## An editorial reading room

Certified Med Spas is the title of this research site. It is not a med spa, clinic, certification body or directory of endorsed businesses. I bring no medical credential to this site, and it does not provide care, prescribe medicines, sell or ship products, or arrange appointments.

I’m interested in published research at the point where a reassuring description has to become a precise claim. Certified sounds like the end of a conversation. For me, it starts one. What was tested? What was observed? What exact thing earned the favorable description?

AOD-9604 is the subject here because its record offers unusually different kinds of accomplishment: metabolic effects in experimental models, a human tolerability summary, analytical identification and cartilage research in rabbits. The [reading list](/references) is the place to meet those publications.

## The judgments that interest me

A transferable endorsement bores me; a particular finding gives me something to consider. At the same time, reflexive dismissal seems an incurious response to a revealing experiment. The [mouse receptor study](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11713213/) deserves attention precisely because its acute and chronic effects separated when the receptor was absent. A complication can be the most informative thing in a paper.

I’m partial to findings that force a claim to become smaller and more exact. That preference makes the [human tolerability result](https://www.jofem.org/index.php/jofem/article/view/157/194) worth crediting within its actual setting, and the [rabbit cartilage scores](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26275694/) worth discussing as an animal result. Neither needs a sweeping endorsement to be interesting.

## Medical decisions

Nothing on these pages is medical advice. These essays cannot assess an individual’s health or choose a treatment. Those questions belong with a qualified healthcare professional who can evaluate the person concerned.

The [contact page](/contact) is for errors in the research record. It is a different kind of conversation from seeking care.

I inspect published research at Certified Med Spas; this is an editorial site, not a med-spa business, and nothing here is medical advice.
